Org Spotlight: Club LAX

When Pat Hitchan’s parents attend his club lacrosse games, they sometimes bring along their dog Chance as an additional companion. So, naturally, the canine family member could not fail to make an appearance at the BJC this weekend to support Hitchan while he dances in THON.

Junior Brandon Ament, a member of the club, said this served as the inspiration behind Club Lacrosse’s banner this year.

In addition to a picture of Chance, the banner sports an adorable message to the senior dancer reading: “Go Patrick! Love, Your Puppy Brother Chance”

The club, made up of both female and male lacrosse players, earned the #1 club sport organization ranking for THON 2013, raising approximately $64,000, Ament says. Adopting the Dustin Beaver family as the First Four Diamond family in 2012, Club Lacrosse has since garnered a number of accolades for their THON efforts. Last year, the club also generated the 5th the most funds by any organization.

Among the five dancers in the club is also Ament’s twin brother, Blake. Ament further reflects on the experience as a “deep bonding experience” among the club’s members. “Everybody is really happy to be supporting such a great cause.”
