When we last spoke with Dan Henkin, we were just a few hours into THON 2014. As the remaining hours whittle away and we inch closer to the culmination, we checked in with Dan to see how he’s doing.

How are you feeling?

I’m feeling good! I had a rough patch in the middle where I forgot about a Slide of Strength I did. My girlfriend, [a Hospitality Captain], was good enough to humor me telling her the same stories over and over.

Have you faced any surprising challenges throughout the weekend? 

The most surprising thing has been how wrong I am about the time. Sometimes it races, sometimes it crawls. I for sure thought it was late morning, but one of the open loading docks showed me the night sky. It’s like being betrayed by your brain.

What has been your favorite part of the weekend so far?

My favorite part of THON so far has been my org, Spisis. They made a huge cutout of my  and my partner’s faces; I’m making a dumb face in a trucker hat. They’ve been so high-energy all weekend. I know I’m never alone on the floor, and they dance with me!

We know Mail Call can be an emotional time for dancers; how were you feeling afterwards?

Mail call was pretty emotional. The men’s ultimate team, Spank, is away playing a tournament in Virginia. They made some beautiful mail showing their support from afar. My girlfriend went for some easy tears with pictures of my dog. I have the best friends.

Do you have the Line Dance memorized yet?

I feel like I really know this Line Dance! Morale did a great job with tempo and transitions.

What are you most looking forward to as the weekend continues?

I’m most looking forward to Go Go Gadjet. They and My Hero Zero blew my mind last year.

What’s the Timber count at?

Timber count is 10! God bless America. Though any further countings of Timber may be auditory hallucinations.
