Our condolences go out to the family and friends of Penn State senior and Schreyer Scholar Peter Breen, who passed away last week while on vacation in Italy. Dean Christian Brady confirmed the death in an email to the Schreyer community this afternoon.

“He was well known to many and he will be missed by all,” Brady said in the email. “I speak for the entire Schreyer Honors College staff in extending sympathies to Peter’s family and friends in light of this tragic loss.”

Breen was a chemistry major who already had PhD offers from UCLA and Michigan. From Camp Hill, Pa., Breen was a dedicated student who loved to travel and experience nature.

A memorial service will be held at the Pasquerilla Spiritual Center on Friday from 2-3:30 p.m. No cause of death is known at this time. We will update this post when we know more.
