A Look Inside the New IM Building

After several years of planning and construction, the new IM Building is open for business and is almost completed. Here’s a look at what you can expect:

The outside of the building has been given a complete facelift.

Students are greeted by a glass facade and glass doors before entering the building.

The new IM Building is the first on-campus recreational building at Penn State that requires students to swipe their student ID. Entrance into the building is free for current Penn State students. This is, in part, a result of a Freeh report recommendation.

Upon entering the building, students are greeted by friendly IM Building employees in the brand new lobby.

Behind the lobby and next to the front door is a brand new lounge.

To the right of the entrance is the new fitness center. The center isn’t yet done, but it is expected to be completed at the end of the month. Students will need a fitness center pass (which will be connected to their Penn State student account) to utilize this new facility.

IM Building 2

There are brand new personal lockers lining the halls, which can be used starting on March 31st.

Benches line the walls between the lockers.

There’s also a large, mirrored multi-purpose room.

There is a small fitness center downstairs as well.

Although it’s not quite finished, it’s pretty clear that the new IM Building is already awesome. The entire renovation and expansion should be finished at the end of the month, and will be a fantastic new facility for students to take advantage of.
