Incoming Freshman LB Jason Cabinda Arrested, Charged With DUI

One of the members of James Franklin’s first recruiting class is in a bit of hot water, as incoming freshman linebacker Jason Cabinda was reportedly arrested and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol.

According to NJ.com, the incident occurred on March 23 at 1:48 a.m. Cabinda reportedly disregarded a stop sign, which led to his arrest. Along with the DUI, Cabinda received a summons forĀ alleged failure to stop, careless driving, and being an uninsured motorist.

Cabinda is a three-star linebacker out of Flemington, New Jersey, and flipped his commitment from Syracuse to Penn State on Oct. 26, 2013. Currently enrolled in Hunterdon Central, Cabinda held offers from nine other schools, including UConn, Maryland, and Rutgers.

There is no word on any possible punishment for Cabinda, but losing him would be huge for the 2014 squad, as the team only has seven scholarship linebackers, including Cabinda.

Neither Franklin nor the athletic department have yet to comment on this incident, but Onward State will keep you updated as more information comes in.
