Help Penn State Bloggers Fund a Football Preview Magazine

The Penn State blogosphere isn’t unlike your family. We argue with each other. We’re mean to each other. We joke around with each other. Basically, we treat each other horribly, but it’s all out of love.

However, we’re like a family in another way: when some of our own need help, we give it to them.

For the second straight year, members of several Penn State blogs are looking to put together a comprehensive Penn State football preview magazine, and for We Are! 2014 to become a reality, the people involved need your help.

The project is headed by publisher Seth Fisher of the popular MGoBlog — which is a blog devoted to Michigan, but don’t worry, he’s cool — and Editor-in-Chief Mike Pettigano of Linebacker-U. In order to get the necessary funding, those involved set up a Kickstarter. You can (and should) donate to the cause right here.

The minimum donation is $1, but a $6 donation gets you a copy of the magazine. However, as the donations go up, the incentives get better. A $16 pledge gets you a t-shirt, a $20 pledge gets you a t-shirt and the magazine, and the donations go all the way up to $1,000 or more, which gets you your own page in the mag, four shirts, four e-books, and an invitation to participate in a roundtable with the project’s editors.

We Are! 2014′s masthead is a cavalcade of prominent members of the Penn State blogging community. It includes:

  • Editors Cari Greene and Jared Slanina, both of Black Shoe Diaries
  • Staff writers Adam Collyer, Ben Scaff, Tim Tolley, and Nick Polak. A current and a few former Onward Staters are also staff writers: Bill DiFilippo, Devon Edwards, and Dan Vecellio.
  • Featured writers Tim Hyland, Ben Jones, Mike Poorman, and Lou Prato.

The minimum goal is $13,000, which the project needs to secure before it moves forward. If the project gets that, it will put out a digital magazine. However, the ultimate goal is $28,000. If the project achieves that milestone, it will put out a print copy of the magazine.

You can like the magazine on Facebook, if you’re into that sort of thing. Make sure you donate today to help Penn State’s premier football preview magazine become a reality. And because MGoBlog did the same thing last year and the project raised nearly $70,000, which was more than twice its goal. Let’s show up Michigan for the second time in a year, eh?
