Music Monday: Coachella 2014

While the Penn State community spent the weekend hyping up for the next football season, thousands of concert goers witnessed show-stopping setlists at Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival in Indio, Ca. Here are seven full sets from this weekend that are worth checking out.

1.) Pharrell Williams: Pharrell’s set on Saturday featured songs from all across his career, including a series of collaborations with Nelly, Snoop Dogg, Gwen Stefani, and many more.

2.) Girl Talk: This DJ held a lively rave on stage at his Coachella debut. With interwoven mashups and guest appearances by Busta Rhymes and Juicy J, Girl Talk guided his audience on a wild trip through the musical cosmos.

3.) Queens of the Stone Age: For the first time in 12 years, this band took the stage at Coachella with a 12-song set and an electric energy. Queens of the Stone Age focused primarily on playing their new material but managed to pull out a few classics like “No One Knows” and “Little Sister.”

4.) Nas: This hip hop icon showed his fans that he hasn’t lost his touch since he released his debut album Illmatic 20 years ago. Even Jay-Z and Diddy stopped by to make appearances during his set.

5.) The Pixies: Although it’s been a decade since the band saw a Coachella stage, the Pixies showcased new material and relived their classic hits like “Where is My Mind.” This set truly shows the evolution of artists over nearly a 30-year history.

6.) Lorde: This rising star showed off her hard work from the past year at her debut Coachella performance on Saturday. Check out her set covering the songs from her album Pure Heroine.

7.) Outkast: Another reunion for another iconic musical group, Outkast unleashed their greatest hits on the audience. Some of the most notable tracks include “Ms. Jackson,” “B.O.B. (Bombs Over Baghdad),” and “Hey Ya.”
