ESPN College Basketball Writer, Penn State Alumna Dana O’Neil To Speak On Campus

Penn State alumna and ESPN college basketball writer Dana O’Neil is at Penn State today for a lunch with College of Communications students at the Hintz Alumni Center.

While at Penn State, O’Neil, ’90, wrote for The Daily Collegian, where she was an assistant sports editor and covered football and men’s gymnastics. Before she joined ESPN in 2007, she wrote for nine years for The Daily News in Philadelphia. She’s also the incoming president for the U.S. Basketball Writers Association.

After Penn State’s scholarships were restored in September 2013, O’Neil wrote a column critical of the NCAA. She was one of the few national columnists to pen a reasonable take on the Sandusky scandal in its immediate wake.

She will also be meeting with the Association for Women in Sports Media tonight in the Sackett Building.
