Tim Frazier Lands Workout With NBA’s Phoenix Suns

Former Penn State men’s basketball standout guard Tim Frazier worked out for the NBA’s Phoenix Suns on Wednesday afternoon, his first professional workout since moving on from the college game. Coach Pat Chambers tweeted a shoutout to Frazier announcing the Suns workout today.

Frazier has been preparing for the upcoming NBA Draft in both State College and his hometown of Houston, Texas in recent weeks. After missing most of the 2012 season with a ruptured left Achilles tendon, Frazier played well in 2013, averaging 14.9 points, 5.3 assists, and 4.4 rebounds per game with a career-high 46.8 shooting percentage from the field.

Penn State’s career leader in assists and the No. 7 scorer in team history also competed at the Portsmouth Invitational recently, posting an 8/6/6 average statline over three days. He also posted a 7’11” standing reach and a 33.0″ no-step vertical jump. Per his Twitter account, he’ll be in New York in the coming days for another workout.

While many NBA experts have predicted that Frazier will go undrafted and land in Europe to start his professional career, scoring a workout with the Suns is an encouraging step for the young guard. Sports writer C.J. Doon took a look at Frazier’s chances at making it in the big leagues before the season started.
