The State Theatre released its summer show slate this afternoon, highlighted with a performance by legendary blues guitarist Johnny Winter. The septuagenarian will come to State College on September 25, with tickets already on sale starting at $30.

Winter might be a tad dated for a college demographic, but the 55-year music veteran was ranked as the 63rd greatest guitarist of all time by Rolling Stone. He has performed with virtually every great blues performer over the last several decades, and produced three Grammy-winning albums for blues legend Muddy Waters in the 1970s.

Winter is known for his high-energy Texas funk in his eighteen released albums.
