James Antoniono Donates $1 Million to College of Liberal Arts

Students in the College of the Liberal Arts can expect to see more educational opportunities in the future thanks to a $1 million donation by alumnus James Antoniono and his wife, Susan.

Antoniono, a 1971 graduate, was the student body president during his time at Penn State. The gift will endow an early career professorship, a graduate fellowship, a director’s fund in the Paterno Liberal Arts Undergraduate Fellows Program, a dean’s fund, and a Trustee Scholarship in the college, along with a fund in Intercollegiate Athletics.

“Jim and Susan’s gift provides vital resources to support the ambitious work of future students and faculty,” said Susan Welch, the Dean of the College of the Liberal Arts. “We are deeply grateful for their vision and generosity to the Liberal Arts community.”

Antoniono, a personal injury and estate attorney, also currently serves as a mentor for the college and sits on the Board of Directors of the Liberal Arts Alumni Society.

Earlier this year, the College of the Liberal Arts received a $3 million donation from alumnus Tracy McCourtney for the college’s Democracy Institute. This came as a part of the university-wide For the Future Campaign, which raised over $2 billion for the university as a whole.
