Allen Robinson Out for the Year With Stress Fracture in Foot

Today, the Jacksonville Jaguars announced some bad news: Former Penn State wideout Allen Robinson has a stress fracture in his foot and will miss the rest of the season.

It has not yet been released how or when Robinson injured the foot or if he will have surgery, but it’s a tough blow for a struggling Jaguars offense, and an even tougher one for A-Rob.

The former second-round pick was enjoying a highly successful season, establishing himself as the No. 1 receiver in Jacksonville over the last 10 weeks. The talent he showcased last season under Bill O’Brien was translating very well to the pros — Robinson has 48 catches for 581 yards and two touchdowns, and had become Blake Bortles’ favorite target and safety net, much like he was for Christian Hackenberg last year. Robinson was looked to often in red zone and third-down situations, as the soft hands and leaping ability that made him one of Penn State’s best-ever receivers were on display.

The future is still incredibly bright, however. Many wide receivers, including Falcons’ star Julio Jones, have suffered foot fractures and returned the next season as productive as ever.

We wish Allen a speedy recovery.
