Trans-Siberian Orchestra to Return to State College

Trans-Siberian Orchestra is bringing an early Christmas to Happy Valley, performing a live debut of its rock opera, “The Christmas Attic”, at the BJC on Thursday, Dec. 4 at 7:30 p.m.

Trans-Siberian Orchestra, which started in 1996, is described as “a rock holiday tradition for a new generation” and is known for its live performances that mix the storytelling of Broadway with the fury of rock music. The band is comprised of 36 members and has sold more than 10 million albums.

TSO’s debut album, “Christmas Eve and Other Stories”, was released in 1996 and kickstarted the band’s Christmas album trilogy. Its 1998 album, “The Christmas Attic”, is the second installment of the trilogy, followed by 2004’s “The Lost Christmas Eve”.

“The Christmas Attic” album has been re-released to coincide with the tour and presents a story of a young girl’s adventure into her attic on Christmas Eve. It’s also the only rock opera that TSO has never performed live and features one of the band’s most popular songs, “Christmas Canon”.

A portion of all ticket sales will go to local charities, adding to the band’s already-donated $11 million. Tickets start at $35, and there’s even a $15 off discount for students, courtesy of UPAC.
