Another day, another in-state recruit commits to Penn State.

Pittsburgh native John Petrishen pledged his allegiance to the Nittany Lions today over Twitter, the 24th recruit of the 2015 class. James Franklin then rang in the news in his typical fashion.

Petrishen is a three-star prospect and rated the No. 21 prospect in Pennsylvania, according to 247 Sports. He visited Penn State on Jan. 30, and was recruited by defensive coordinator Bob Shoop and cornerbacks coach Terry Smith. Petrishen weighed scholarship offers from Northwestern, Virginia, West Virginia, and Pittsburgh.

Standing at 6-foot-2, 197 pounds, the Central Catholic product runs a 4.46 40-yard dash, per his Hudl page. You can check out his senior year highlights below.

Penn State’s 2015 recruiting class now has 24 commitments, just one shy of its full allotment of 25. 247 ranks it as the No. 13 class in the nation, and second only to Ohio State in the Big Ten.

Petrishen will join a young, talented Penn State secondary, led by rising sophomore Marcus Allen at the safety position. He will compete for the starting spot opposite Allen — left vacant by the departure of Adrian Amos — alongside rising sophomore Troy Apke and rising senior Malik Golden, as well as fellow three-star incoming freshmen Jarvis Miller and Ayron Monroe.

Alongside four-star offensive lineman Sterling Jenkins, Penn State now has now landed the only two Pittsburgh natives in the Top-35 Pennsylvania recruits, according to Rivals.com.
