We’re all familiar with the concept of date auctions for charity. Typically, prominent students are asked to auction themselves off to their peers as the proceeds then go towards whatever organization is hosting the auction. Often, students are left standing awkwardly on stage, praying for someone to pay any small amount of money for them so that the moment will soon be over.

However, Global Brigades will host a very different kind of date auction — an “anonymous date auction.”

At this kind of auction, students don’t stand on stage waiting for someone to bid on them. Instead, a box with a photo of that student and a short introduction about them will be displayed. Rather than raising a hand, interested students may simply put tickets in that person’s box. Obviously, the student who puts the largest amount of tickets in the box will be the lucky winner.

Global Brigades is a volunteer organization that aims to empower students to go on service trips abroad — this year they are traveling to Honduras, Panama, and Nicaragua. With fundraisers like this auction, the students involved in Global Brigades are trying to raise money to go on volunteer trips to Central American countries.

You could charitably donate your money and leave the auction as the lucky winner of a date with:
