Penn State Hockey’s David Glen Suspended One Game For Butt-Ending
The Big Ten announced Monday that forward and alternate captain David Glen will be suspended one game for butt-ending an opposing player near the end of Saturday’s 3-2 loss to Michigan State. As a result, Glen will be ineligible for Friday night’s home game against Big Ten-leading Minnesota.
Butt-ending is when a player uses the end of his stick opposite the blade to hit an opposing player. Glen’s infraction occurred with 2:34 left in the loss.
Glen, who missed parts of the first half of the season with multiple injuries, has spent time on what are essentially the team’s second and third lines. His four goals and eight points in 19 games rank seventh and ninth on the team, respectively. With the Golden Gophers coming to town this weekend for a huge series, the two-way forward and leader will leave a hole in the lineup at an inopportune time.
Penn State trails Minnesota and Michigan by two points for the Big Ten lead, and a strong weekend at Pegula could put some distance between the Lions and the Gophers. Let’s hope the home team left their butt-ending in East Lansing.
