Louie Petrone Named ‘Artist Of The Year’ At Penn State Music Awards
Penn State Open M.I.C. (Music. Inspirations. Concepts.) held its own version of the Grammys on Thursday night with the Penn State Music Awards to highlight some of the university’s best vocalists, performers, and musicians.
Louie Petrone was awarded the top honor, Artist of the Year, and came away with the most wins. He won all four of his nominations, including best mixtape for “Lyrical Economy.” Penn State acapella group Pennharmonics won best in its category, while Mute Cities came out as the best band.
With everything from rappers and mixtapes to Penn State dance groups nominated, fans were able to vote online for their favorites prior to the ceremony. Julie Bouchard had the most nominations of the night, and won two out of the five. Olivia Price and Keegan Tawa (pictured above) both went away with two awards each as well. Jerrie Johnson and THON’s Got Talent winner David Gaines earned awards for best poet.
The Philadelphia-based duo OCD: Moosh and Twist headlined the awards show’s performance lineup. Tawa, RAM Squad, Gaines, and Bouchard were all among the featured nominated performers.
