April 2nd Symposium to Showcase Students’ Cutting Edge Research

by Brittany Banik

The Engineering Graduate Student Council’s 12th annual College of Engineering Research Symposium (CERS) is set for April 2 at the Nittany Lion Inn. The event is free and open to the public and begins at 8:00 a.m. and ends at 5:00 p.m. To RSVP and register to attend CERS 2015, please visit http://cers.engr.psu.edu.

The annual student-initiated, student-run symposium features research papers, oral presentations, and poster displays from undergraduate and graduate students in the engineering disciplines. An ‘Art in Science’ competition will also be featured to showcase the artistic viewpoints often found in scientific explorations. CERS also provides students opportunities to network with industry representatives, faculty, and researchers from various fields.

Albert D. Diaz, vice president in the Data Center Group and general manager of the Product Collaboration and Systems Division at Intel Corporation, will deliver the keynote address at noon.

Research/travel grants for best paper and poster presentations and ‘Art in Science’ awards will be presented during a ceremony at the conclusion of the program.

CERS 2015 sponsors include BP, Intel, Norfolk Southern, the University Park Allocation Committee (UPAC), and the University Park Graduate and Professional Student Association (GPSA).
