Barron To Talk Penn State Budget During March 30 Open Forum

In a follow-up from last semester’s forum on student affordability and economic impact, Penn State President Eric Barron will host the “President’s Forum on the Penn State Budget” next Monday, March 30, to discuss the university’s budget and appropriation of money. All students are welcome and encouraged to attend.

The forum will begin with a presentation from President Barron, setting the tone for the financially-based discussion, before opening up to student questions. The event will be moderated by Katie O’Toole, lecturer for the College of Communications, and any student may attend and propose questions for the president. In particular, President Barron aims to focus on the foundation of the university’s budget, both its structure and the process of its development.

In addition, the forum will be live-streamed to both commonwealth campus and world campus students.

In light of recent alterations to the university’s fiscal delegations, such as the increased rate of room and board, and a potential freeze on student tuition, the topics of conversation regarding the university and its budget are certainly prevalent in the lives of many students. President Barron’s forum will provide a more unique and personal discussion between the students and the university administration.

The forum will be held March 30 from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. in Robb Hall in the Hintz Alumni Center. If you have questions regarding any part of the university’s financial system, be sure to attend and voice your comments or concerns.
