Peter and Ann Tombros Offer Donation To Improve Basketball Facilities

Earlier today, it was announced that Peter and Ann Tombros will donate to a $1.1 million Penn State basketball project in an effort to improve the quality of the basketball facilities. The donation will go towards the creation of a state-of-the-art film room in the BJC as well as a new server and eating area for the players, coaches, and staff.

“We are grateful to Peter and Ann for their financial gift, as well as their continued support of the basketball program and all Penn State sports,” said head coach Pat Chambers in a release. “We are committed to providing the best possible experience for our players, and gifts like this make it possible. I think the entire team is looking forward to taking advantage of these new resources next season.”

The Tombroses have made sizable contributions to the university in the past, most notably donating to the golf program and the Knowledge Commons at the University Library. The Tombroses were also contributors to For the Future: The Campaign for Penn State Students, a campaign that ultimately raised more than $2 billion.

Peter Tombros earned a B.S. in agricultural sciences and industry from Penn State in 1964, and promptly accepted a fellowship to pursue a master’s in agricultural economics. In 2005, he was appointed professor and distinguished executive-in-residence in the Eberly College of Science. Ann Tombros has volunteered in the University Libraries, Palmer Museum of Art, and For the Future: The Campaign for Penn State Students.

The donation is a huge boost for Penn State basketball and will hopefully draw some recruits to the program. It’ll hopefully make the BJC more bearable, too.
