Holocaust Survivor David Tuck To Speak On Campus

Holocaust survivor David Tuck will come to campus on April 20 to speak about his experiences. The talk will take place at 7 p.m. in 112 Kern Building.

Tuck, 91, was held in a variety of concentration camps in Nazi territory and even survived the infamous Auschwitz camp, notorious for its brutal conditions and high number of fatalities. According to his previous talks, he was forced to loot cemeteries for jewelry and became known by his number, 176. Tuck often discusses bullying at schools, referring to Adolf Hitler as “bully No. 1.”

After the Holocaust, Tuck moved to Pennsylvania, where he raised his family. Now approaching the 70th anniversary of his rescue by Allied forces, he continues to travel the nation to tell the story of his survival for all willing to listen.

The number of living Holocaust survivors is dwindling, so when an opportunity arises to hear one speak, students should take advantage. First-hand accounts of such a tragic event only grow more valuable with time.

The free event is sponsored by Penn State Hillel, the Penn State Jewish Studies Program, as well as Penn State Democrats, Students Against Sexual Assault, and CUFI (Christians United for Israel).
