Eight Pi Kappa Phi Brothers Charged With Criminal Mischief Following Eviction Notice

Pi Kappa Phi was kicked off campus for at least three years, and a group of brothers decided to put up a fight against their own house. Eight brothers were charged with criminal mischief for property damage to their house on E. Fairmont Ave, according to the State College Police Department.

Following the initial sanctions from the National Fraternity, the chapter received an eviction notice from the homeowners, State College Police Lieutenant Keith Robb said. After the eviction was posted, the homeowners asked State College Police to investigate because they suspected significant property damage.

Following the investigation, policed traced the damages back to eight brothers and one other man who is not affiliated with the fraternity. Police estimate the damages took place over the course of a few weeks from March 15 to April 9.

“There were large amounts of damage, primarily to the walls and structure of the house,” Robb said.

Seven of the men received summary charges for criminal mischief because the damage they caused was valued at less than $500, Robb said. The other two men are facing misdemeanor charges, which means the damage they caused was valued between $500 to $5,000.

The chapter is being evicted from the house later this month.
