Five Classical Concerts In Two Weeks: Music At Penn’s Woods

Fans of classical music in Happy Valley are in luck. Penn State’s College of Arts and Architecture will present two weeks of music in June as a part of its annual Music at Penn’s Woods festival.

The festival is kicking off with a free concert in the Arboretum called “Music in the Gardens: Healing the Soul” on June 10. The actual concert starts at 7:30 p.m., but classical musical lovers should definitely come early. During the hour before the concert, musicians from the festival will be stationed at various locations throughout the Arboretum’s gardens. Each of the musicians will play a short selection of music several times throughout the hour, so you can wander through the beautiful gardens while listening to sweet music.

Music at Penn’s Woods brings all sorts of musicians to State College: Penn State students and faculty, local musicians, and performers from across the country. These musicians come together to play some pretty amazing music to a lot of people; last year, the free outdoor concert had over 800 attendees.

“Music in the Gardens” is only the beginning of Music at Penn’s Woods summer festival. On June 17, musicians will perform selections by Mozart and Poulenc at Esber Recital Hall. The concerts at Esber continue, with different musicians performing on June 20, June 24, and June 27. All performances start at 7:30 p.m.

Tickets for the festival’s concerts (other than the free one, of course) can be purchased here.
