Punter Blake Gillikin Commits To Penn State

Finally, some great news for Penn State’s special teams.

Punter Blake Gillikin from Georgia committed to Penn State’s Class of 2016 this afternoon, joining what is shaping up to be a very impressive class.

Kohl’s Kicking ranks Gillikin as a five-star prospect and the fourth-best punter in the Class of 2016. Entering the 2015 season, Penn State has zero scholarship specialists, and with much-maligned punting problems last season, this is a key pickup for Franklin and his staff. In fact, the last scholarship specialist to come to Penn State was some guy named Sam Ficken — for Gillikin, that’s not bad company to be in.

Gillikin’s Hudl page serves as a nice look into what Franklin reeled in — a big-time punter with a leg that can already play Division-1 football.

Welcome to the family, Blake!
