Micha Hancock Nominated For Second ESPY

Women’s volleyball superstar Micha Hancock was nominated for her second ESPY award. The former setter and captain was on the ballot for Best Collegiate Female Athlete last year, making her the program’s first two-time nominee.

Hancock was named Penn State’s Female Athlete of the Year this spring, and she graduated with one of the most dominant collegiate careers in both Penn State and Big Ten history. Hancock boasted the nation’s most lethal serve, as she led the country in aces per set and had at least one ace in 36 of 39 matches. Last season, Hancock’s 126 aces broke the record for the most in a single season in NCAA history. Overall, her 380 career aces make her both a Penn State and Big Ten record holder.

She is up against Taylor Cummings (Maryland; lacrosse), Lauren Haeger (Florida; softball), Brenna Stewart (UConn; basketball), and four-time Olympic gold medalist Missy Franklin (UConn; swimming).

The ESPYs have been presented by ESPN since 1993, and have been decided by fan voting since 2004. You can (and should) vote for Hancock here until July 15.
