Quinn Nordin, Nation’s No. 1 Kicker, Commits To Penn State

It’s a shame to see Sam Ficken leave, but it’s great to see Quinn Nordin take his place.

The nation’s No. 1 kicker committed to Penn State Friday morning, filling a gap left by the legendary Ficken and answering lots of questions about Penn State’s special teams moving forward. 247 Sports ranks Nordin as a three-star prospect, despite being the best at his position, and also predicted a 74 percent chance that he would commit to Penn State.

Joey Julius and Chris Gulla are expected to compete for the starting kicker position next season, but the former has shown that he isn’t as technically sound as the coaching staff and fans would like, and the latter has already had a shaky career playing for Penn State. With Nordin’s commitment, James Franklin can feel secure knowing that a proven kicker will be ready for deployment soon.

Nordin was expected to choose between Arizona State, Georgia, Michigan, and Penn State. Welcome aboard, Quinn!
