Four-Star 2016 Safety Andrew Pryts Commits To Penn State

Penn State’s loaded Class of 2016 continues to grow with the addition of four-star safety Andrew Pryts (Hermitage, PA/Hickory) over the weekend.

The 6-foot-1, 199 pound safety had his share of national powerhouses to choose from, fielding offers from the likes of Notre Dame, Ohio State, and Alabama among others. Pryts’ commitment adds even more depth to what should be a loaded secondary in 2016, with players like Christian Campbell, John Reid, and Garrett Taylor shoring up the team’s cornerback situation, while joining corner Lavert Hill in the Class of 2016.

Pryts is something of a two-way safety, in that he can effectively play the run, as well as provide a significant impact against the pass. An All-State wide receiver his sophomore year of high school, Pryts boast exceptional hands — a trait not commonly found amongst the majority of defensive backs. On top of that, Pryts is not afraid to get his hands dirty in the box against the rush. He attacks the ballcarrier with determination, and can lay the lumber if need be. His presence in the defensive secondary will add an element of ferocity, and fortify the team’s defense for years to come.

James Franklin has exceeded expectations on the recruiting trail this recruiting season, bringing in a number of talented recruits. Pryts’ name can be added to the list of notable commitments, and should be a fixture in the secondary for years to come.

Welcome to the family, Andrew.
