DC Bob Shoop Pledges $107 Donation To Uplifting Athletes For Each Penn State Sack
Penn State defensive coordinator Bob Shoop pledged Friday afternoon to donate $107 to the university’s chapter of Uplifting Athlete for each sack his defense tallies over the season.

The nod to Beaver Stadium’s 107,000 seat capacity is an admirable gesture by Shoop, and could cost him a pretty penny. Penn State’s defense ranks second in the nation in many categories and its defensive line, which features Anthony Zettel, Austin Johnson, and Carl Nassib pack sack potential on any play. And through two games, the Lions’ eight sacks are tied for eighth-best in the country.
Shoop’s commitment corresponds with Uplifting Athletes’ effort to “sack” kidney cancer. The organization has raised over one million dollars since 2013, and is urging others to join Shoop in the effort to tackle the deadly disease sack by sack.
