The Best Moments Of Penn State Men’s Hockey’s 2014-15 Season

As Penn State ushers in a new season of hockey this Sunday, nostalgia for last year’s record-shattering 18-14-4 season has slowly crept in. While we look forward to a new youth movement and endless defensive depth, there’s no denying that the legendary Casey Bailey-Taylor Holstrom-David Goodwin line will be missed.

Before the 2015-16 Nittany Lions lace up their skates, we revisited some of the best moments of the 2014-15 men’s hockey season.

Casey Bailey’s Hat Trick In 5-4 OT L vs. Ohio State:

This was more of a 20-minute period than a “moment,” but man, it was an incredible 20 minutes. Ohio State was dominating the game with a 4-0 lead until Bailey answered with three goals, and David Goodwin tied the game up with a goal of his own. Unfortunately the Buckeyes ended up winning in overtime, but this period showed us just how talented Penn State’s Bailey-Holstrom-Goodwin line was.

Eric Scheid’s Momentum Shifter In 4-1 W vs. No. 4 UMass-Lowell:

Around 55 seconds into this video, Eric Scheid solidified Penn State’s dominance in a monumental win against national powerhouse UMass-Lowell. With 19-seconds remaining in the first period, Scheid silenced the Tsongas Center with the goal.

Scott Conway ( :-( )’s SportsCenter Top-10 Breakaway Beauty In 4-3 W vs. Minnesota:

No description of this goal can do it justice. Just watch and try to recreate that celebration if you’re brave. This goal encapsulates everything that is good and exciting about hockey — I mean, just watching it makes you feel good inside. So sit back, kick up your feet, and enjoy that sweet, sweet goodness.

Eamon McAdam’s Diving Save In 3-2 W vs. Michigan

McAdam makes this near-impossible save look effortless. It’s one thing to make a quick save with the glove, but it’s an entirely different beast when the stick becomes involved. Using his goalie stick as a last-ditch attempt to keep the puck from crossing the line, this dive kept Penn State’s two goal lead in tact and proved crucial in a 3-2 win against everyone’s least favorite team.

The 2014-15 campaign was full of exciting moments, but here’s to the 2015-16 season bringing us a new slate of incredible feats.
