Gameday Coverage: Penn State vs. Army

Good morning Penn State fans, it’s a rainy gameday as Penn State looks for its fourth win in a row. The Nittany Lions host Army for a noon Military Appreciation Day matchup.

A few storylines surround today’s tilt. Running backs Saquon Barkley and Akeel Lynch, both injured last week though still listed as the top two backs on the depth chart, are questionable for the game. Franklin has been typically mute on their status. Meanwhile, Christian Hackenberg looks to build on his first truly promising game of the season.

Kickoff: Noon Eastern time.

Television: ESPN — Bob Wischusen, Brock Huard, and Shannon Spake.

Radio: Penn State Sports Network — Steve Jones, Jack Ham, and Joe Putnam. Local: 93.7 FM/1450 AM. Sirius: Ch. 132. XM: Ch. 196.

Weather: Joaquin is coming! It’s unclear what type of havoc the hurricane will wreak on State College, but AccuWeather is reporting rain all day. That would be the third of four home games in the rain so far this year. Lovely.

Last time they met: Penn State hasn’t played Army since 1979. On Oct. 13 of that year, the Lions beat the Black Knights 24-3.

Injuries: Expect Akeel Lynch of Saquon Barkley to be limited or to not play at all, depending on their unknown status and the score. Offensive lineman Andrew Nelson is expected to miss another week as well. Good news, however, is that Jordan Lucas and Marcus Allen should be ready to go.
