Gameday Coverage: Penn State Vs. Illinois

It’s gameday, Nittany Lion fans. Penn State’s at home against a 4-3 Illinois side that, despite its record, has hung tough in some quality B1G matchups. The Illini feature big 6-foot-5 quarterback Wes Lunt, a not terribly mobile, but sturdy passer. It’s THON Day at Beaver Stadium, and a purple out to honor the life of Kayla Nakonechni.

Weather: According to Accuweather, it should be a pretty comfortable fall afternoon in State College. The temperature will hover in the high 40s for most of the day, and, though cloudy, it shouldn’t rain.

Last time they met: Penn State will look to avenge a lost from last season for the second straight week. Last year, Illinois booted a game-winning kick with eight seconds remaining. Christian Hackenberg had one of the least effective games of his career, completing 8-16 passes for 93 yards.

Injuries: Nyeem Wartman-White is still out of course. Franklin said that his team practiced a bit less this week and focused more on walkthroughs to provide time to recover. Penn State hasn’t had a bye week yet this year.
