Jordan Lucas To Miss Rest Of Year Due To Injury

Penn State football senior safety Jordan Lucas will miss the remainder of the season due to an injury, the team announced today.

The nature of Lucas’ injury was not revealed, though Lucas was sidelined this past Saturday at Northwestern with what looked like an upper-body injury near the shoulder area.

The New Rochelle, New York native was having a significant year in pass defense. He was fourth on the team with 56 tackles and had 2.5 tackles for loss. He also clocked three passes defended, three pass breakups, and a forced fumble on the season. Lucas was reliable not just for his play but for his health. Before the San Diego State game early in the season he had played in 40 straight games, the last 27 of which he had started. He also switched his jersey to No. 5 to honor injured teammate Nyeem Wartman-White earlier in the season.

Lucas’ career will end with 180 total tackles, 117 of which were solo. He also had 25 pass breakups, four sacks, and 11 tackles for loss. A two-time All-Big Ten honorable mention, Lucas’ injury will prove a challenge for Penn State’s secondary in its last two regular season games of the year against strong offenses.

Malik Golden filled in for Lucas at the strong safety spot last weekend after Lucas’ injury.
