Penn State Hockey Ranked Program-High No. 16
After sweeping Michigan State in its Big Ten opening series, men’s hockey (10-2-3, 2-0-0) climbed from No. 19 to program-high No. 16 in the USCHO rankings.
With 276 voter points and the No. 2 powerplay, No. 4 offense, and No. 14 defense in the nation, Penn State’s bump in the rankings is no surprise. Its four shorthanded goals tie for third in the NCAA. Michigan is the only other Big Ten team appearing in the rankings, at 9 with 555 points.
The Nittany Lions dominate early conference-play goaltending, with Eamon McAdam’s .966 save percentage and Matthew Skoff’s .939 sitting at first and second in the Big Ten respectively.
Penn State takes on coach Guy Gadowsky’s previous institution Princeton on Friday, Dec. 11 at Pegula.
