Carl Nassib Wins Lombardi Award As Nation’s Top Lineman Or Linebacker

Carl Nassib’s monster season continues with his naming as the Lombardi Award winner. The Lombardi, given to the nation’s best defensive lineman or linebacker, is just another feather in the cap of Nassib’s incredible story.

It was the second of two awards that Nassib was up for on Wednesday. Earlier this week he was a finalist but didn’t win the Burlsworth or Nagurski, but on Wednesday he took home the Ted Hendricks Trophy for being the nation’s top lineman, then won the Lombardi a few hours later.

The former walk-on who never started in high school and had no college offers led the nation in sacks, tackles for loss, and forced fumbles in 2015.

Even better news is that James Franklin said last Sunday that he expects Nassib to return from his two-game absence and play in the TaxSlayer Bowl. Check out Nassib’s return to action on January 2 as Penn State tries to go 2-0 in bowls under Franklin.
