Penn State Love Stories: Found On Beaver Field

They had a fairytale love, she was a cheerleader, and he was a football player. Matt and Jeannine Kranchick knew each other from their shared Saturdays on Beaver Field, but it wasn’t until an introduction at Mad Mex that their story began.

They owe their introduction to former letterman Chris McKelvy who said, “you two will get married someday.” This was an ambitious assumption for two people who had just formally met, but he didn’t know he was predicting the future.

Matt and Jeannine both graduated in 2003, Matt earned a Bachelors of Science in Business. Upon graduating Matt immediately began preparing for the NFL draft. The night before the 2004 draft, the couple reconnected at The Big Easy. The next day Matt was drafted in the 6th round by the Pittsburgh Steelers. Ever since then Jeannine has been known as his “good luck charm.”

Matt played for several other teams after the Steelers including the New York Giants, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and the New England Patriots.

The couple has been together for 11 years and married for six, just like their friend Chris McKelvy predicted. Jeannine described them as, “Happily married and still crazy in love.”

They have even passed on their love for Penn State to their four year old daughter. Even at her young age her dream is to someday become a Penn State cheerleader like her mom and aunt.

Although the Kranchicks currently live in Columbus, Ohio, more commonly known as Buckeye territory, they aren’t afraid to share their loyalty to Penn State. They even project blue lights onto their house for every Penn State football game.

When they aren’t lighting up their house the Kranchicks are sitting in the stands of Beaver Stadium. This past season they attended the white out against Michigan and were even honored on the field. Matt was sure to grab Jeannine for a kiss just like he did when he played.
