Matt Zanellato Finally Gets To Dance At THON

After two attempts, Matt Zanellato will finally be a dancer at THON. The wide receiver will stand for 46 hours THON weekend as one of four representatives from the Student-Athlete Advisory Board, and he sent out a tweet to announce his accomplishment.

“I THON for all of the Four Diamonds children and families I have met over the years. I THON for the day we can dance in celebration instead of for the cure. And I THON to inspire other athletes, who are given such a platform, to promote such a worthy cause,” Zanellato told Onward State.

“It means the world to me. THON has been such a huge part of my experience at Penn State and there is absolutely no better way to end my career at Penn State than to dance this year.”

Zanellato, a graduate student, has been around Penn State longer than almost everyone in the football program. 247Sports says his primary recruiter was Larry Johnson, and he started his collegiate career off under Joe Paterno.

His endeavors off the field gave him publicity that rivaled that of his on-field product, as he was named Academic All-Big Ten in 2014 and contributed to THON throughout his Penn State career. This included his help at 2014’s THON Hoops, where he and other student-athletes hung out with THON children before the annual men’s basketball game.

One of Penn State football’s most prolific community guys will have his chance to give even more For The Kids this February. Way to go, Matt!
