Dancers beware: Snapchat has added an hourly countdown to their Penn State THON Snap story.

Snapchat added a Penn State THON Snapchat story at the beginning of THON weekend that is visible nationwide. The feature allows those who don’t have the opportunity to make it to Happy Valley this weekend to experience THON from wherever they’re following along.

The new hourly countdown may be helpful for those who aren’t in the BJC, but it could spell disaster to those inside who are trying to avoid knowing what time it is. The new story now looks like this.

We covered the number for the safety and sanity of our readers, but the remaining number of hours is displayed under the heart. It’s common practice to avoid mentioning the time, day, or current sun position in an effort to keep dancers from getting overwhelmed or stressed out.

Clearly executives at Snapchat are unaware of this common courtesy of THON when they updated the story. DCRMs will have to be careful when their dancer pulls out their phone and logs onto Snapchat.
