Tight End Brent Wilkerson Suspended Indefinitely

Senior tight end Brent Wilkerson was suspended indefinitely, according to a statement from Penn State Athletics, per Scout.

“We are aware of the charges against Mr. Wilkerson. He has been suspended indefinitely from all football and team activities until we have more information. We will not have any additional comment as this is an ongoing legal matter.”

The charges of indecent assault and harassment stem from an incident on Feb 13. Wilkerson figured to see an increase in playing time after the departure of Adam Breneman after the conclusion of the 2015 season. Wilkerson had charges of criminal mischief stemming from damaged property dismissed last year.

His preliminary hearing is April 6.

Update 11:28 a.m. Details have emerged on the nature of Wilkerson’s crimes. According to an affidavit of probable cause reported by the Centre Daily Times, Wilkerson invited himself into a woman’s apartment on Waupelani Drive. The woman, with whom Wilkerson had a “cordial relationship” was reportedly sober, but Wilkerson had been drinking.

According to the CDT’s report on the affidavit, Wilkerson woke the woman up after about 45 minutes wearing nothing but a shirt and underwear. He then proceeded to kiss her body, hold her neck, and attempted to undress her despite repeated requests to stop.

The woman said that Wilkerson also began masturbating in front of her despite the woman repeatedly telling Wilkerson to stop. Police photographed bruising on the woman’s neck, which Wilkerson said came from the kissing. According to the report, no actual intercourse occurred, and the incident was reported on the same day.

Wilkerson blamed his drinking, according to police, saying “I guess I took it too far.”

“I know what I did was wrong,” he allegedly told police. “I know what I did was wrong. After a couple ‘No’s’ I should have left after the first ‘No.’ ”
