Pa. House Of Representatives Passes Resolution Congratulating THON

As if $9 million dollars and countless smiles weren’t enough, the Pennsylvania House of Representatives took time out of a busy Monday to pass a resolution congratulating THON 2016.

House Resolution 718 of the Regular Session 2015-16, memo “Congratulating and Honoring THON 2016,” is described as, “A Resolution congratulating The Pennsylvania State University IFC/Panhellenic Dance Marathon for raising more than $9 million for the Four Diamonds Fund at Penn State Hershey Children’s Hospital to help fight pediatric cancer.”

The Resolution passed with 190 Yea votes out of a possible 200.

Two acts of serendipity almost came through. This was House Resolution 718, ten digits higher than a significant THON number. The bill’s prime sponsor was Kerry Benninghoff, but imagine if it were Russ Diamond.

“THON is about providing hope, love and support for children and their families as they face the toughest battles of their lives,” Benninghoff said, per the Centre Daily Times. “I continue to be amazed by the efforts of our young people, and could not be prouder.”

Another very successful THON deserves more recognition than it will get, but praise from the House is a start. Congratulations to all of the THON 2016 dancers, volunteers, and supporters!
