Relay For Life To Move Inside The HUB

In light of Saturday’s cold and snowy forecast, Relay for Life has decided to move the event inside the HUB this year to ensure the safety and warmth of all volunteers.

“We made the decision to change the event with the help of the HUB staff due to the impending weather for this weekend,” said Relay for Life Executive Director Jenna Loffredo. “It is forecasted to snow in the morning and be very cold, so for the safety of our volunteers, survivors, and guests, we decided to switch to an alternate location. The HUB staff has been extremely accommodating, so no one is losing their favorite activities.”

The biggest question for many participants is where they will be walking. “Tentatively, the track for walking will be on the ground floor of the HUB and will be clearly marked,” Loffredo said.

Teams are still welcome to stay over in the HUB according to previous plans, and performers throughout the weekend will remain the same, including the various a cappella and dance performances that are scheduled.

“All of our performers will stay the same,” Loffredo said, “as well as numerous ceremonies throughout the weekend to honor our loved ones who have been affected by cancer.”

Penn State Relay for Life raised over $1 Million for the American Cancer Society last year to support cancer research and patients undergoing treatment.

“Though State College weather can be tricky, we’re doing the best we can and we look forward to seeing more Penn State students since it’s not going to be so cold,” Loffredo said. “We look forward to seeing everyone in the HUB for the opportunity to raise tons of money for the American Cancer Society.”
