The Dauphin County court of common pleas officially set trial preparation deadlines on the Commonwealth v. Curley, Schultz, and Spanier case today for a case that’s been more than four years in the making. The deadlines, which are set throughout the summer with the last of which being the end of July, may mean a trial is coming by the end of the year.

In an effort to wrap-up the pre-trial proceedings, a judge set the following deadlines in the case. The orders are as follows, according to court documents:

1. The Defendants shall file all Pre-Trial Motions, along with Briefs in Support Thereof, not later than July 1, 2016.
2. The Commonwealth shall file Answers and Responsive Briefs to such Pre-Trial Motions not later than July 31, 2016.
3. Counsel shall, at the time of filing the Pre-Trial Motions, apprise the Court as to any request for hearing thereon.
4. Counsel shall apprise the Court, not later than July 31, 2016, of previously filed Pre-Trial Motions which are ready for disposition and whether Counsel request that the Court schedule hearings thereon.

Curley, Schultz, and Spanier face charges for failure to report suspected abuse and endangering the welfare of children, which are second and first degree misdemeanors. Curley also faces a perjury charge.

Criminal charges of obstruction of justice and conspiracy were dropped in January, along with the perjury charges against Schultz and Spanier after testimony from former General Counsel Cynthia Baldwin was ruled inadmissible.
