Westgate Las Vegas Superbook Gives Saquon Barkley 80/1 Heisman Odds

Grab your No. 26 jersey and get those #SaquonForHeisman2016 hashtags rolling — the Westgate Las Vegas Superbook currently lists Barkley as an 80/1 shot to join college football’s elite family at the end of next year.

The Superbook stands as one of the premier sportsbooks in the world, and it seems like bookmakers and non-Penn Staters alike are starting to recognize the otherworldly talent Barkley possesses. He captured the nation’s attention with a Heisman-esque leap over an unsuspecting Buffalo defender early on in the 2015 season and only improved from that point on. Barkley stole the show week in and week out, prompting pundits nationwide to discuss his legitimacy as a potential first round pick.

Once a highly sought-after recruit, Barkley has developed into a superstar — one oddsmakers believe belongs in the same conversation as the Leonard Fournettes, Dalvin Cooks, and Nick Chubbs of the college football universe.

It’ll take a season of historic proportions to potentially dethrone national favorites Deshaun Watson and Fournette, but if Barkley is able to capitalize on progress made in his rookie season, anything is possible.

A bigger, faster, and stronger Barkley could result in astronomical offensive totals for Penn State’s prized possession, meaning those 80/1 odds could net you a nice chunk of change — think of all the happy people who bet on Leicester City currently swimming in Olympic sized pools of cash after striking gold on longshot odds. But remember, we’re just a student-run organization — we do not condone or encourage gambling. Unless you reside in Nevada…in that case, bet the car, house, and kids on Barkley leaping his way to the podium in New York City in December.
