Duquesne Brewing Adds Joe Paterno Light Beer To Legacy Series

After the wild success of the initial installment of the Joe Paterno Legacy Series, the Duquesne Brewing Co. has introduced Joe Paterno Light to the collection of craft beers honoring our Joe.

The full-bodied adult beverage is being sold in a special can honoring Paterno’s 50th anniversary at the helm of the Nittany Lions. The company began the distribution process earlier Friday morning, with distributors preparing to receive shipments by Monday.

Initially, the introduction of a light version of the original Joe Paterno beer wasn’t to be introduced until the start of Penn State’s football season, but Jay Paterno motioned to expedite the introduction of the brew, setting production way ahead of schedule given how well the original was received by fans and beer connoisseurs alike.

Though the original brew has transformed into a tailgate staple, Duquesne Brewing founder Mark Dudash said the State College beer market currently favors a lighter beer. “It will be right in the middle of the price point. It’s a light beer, only 96 calories, but it has a fuller taste than most since we used two-row barley and European hops,” Jay Paterno said of the beer.

After making a splash with the first installment of the Legacy Series, expect Duquesne’s lighter version to see similar success, if not more. Now fans can cool off on a hot summer’s day with 12 ounces of success with honor without the calories!
