D.R.A.M. Puts On A ‘Special’ Set At Movin’ On

Virginia-based rapper D.R.A.M. kicked off the second half of this year’s Movin’ On lineup after performances by Clean Bandit, Love and Theft, and Zach Wade and the Good Grief, giving the audience a ‘special’ performance.

After beginning with some older songs from his two projects “#1EpicEP” and “Gahdamn!” to warm up the crowd, D.R.A.M. started into one of his more popular songs about how he feels with a large sum of money: “Cash Machine.”

D.R.A.M.’s raspy, catchy flow made the concert enjoyable, although his voice seemed pitchy in some of his more laid back songs, like “D.R.A.M. Sings Special.”

The rapper did manage to get the crowd’s energy level up with his encore, as he performed two consecutive performances of his mega-hit “Broccoli” which he proudly proclaimed has sold five million copies.

With his dreadlocks and beanie, D.R.A.M. looked stylish as he tried to spread messages of love and positivity between songs. However, he began to spread a, well — different — message of love as he repeatedly referenced he was hoping to make a friend for the night while in State College.

In addition to advertising his availability for this evening, D.R.A.M. made sure to comment on the smells of the local scenery with something along the lines of “Fuck this man, it smells like some cow shit up in here. What’s up with that?”

While the concert was fun, the overall experience was underwhelming. The visual effects and lighting were nearly unnoticeable. Throwing water into the crowd was actually the artist’s main audience-engaging prop.

Overall, D.R.A.M. did a great job and gave a fun concert experience, despite most people only knowing two or three of his songs. Next time, Movin’ On should pick someone who spends less time trying to pick up women and more time performing on the stage.
