Penn State Men’s Basketball Lands 2017 Recruit Jamari Wheeler

Pat Chambers filled up one of the roster spots open on the men’s basketball team Friday with the commitment of guard Jamari Wheeler. The Live Oak, Fl. native joins Trent Buttrick as the second commit in the 2017 recruiting cycle. He has the ability to provide some much needed guard depth after the departures of Isaiah Washington and Terrence Samuel.

Wheeler was previously committed to Duquesne University, but was released of his letter of intent after the school fired head coach Jim Ferry. Listed at 6’1″, Wheeler adds a second true point guard to the team behind Tony Carr, allowing players like Shep Garner to play a much more natural shooting guard position.

With this commitment, there are two more open roster spots on the team for the 2017-18 season. While we wait to see what Wheeler does when he arrives to Happy Valley, take a look at some highlights during an AAU game where he dropped 31 points (No. 5 on The Rock).
