Garrett Sickels Reportedly Signs With Indianapolis Colts

Former Penn State defensive end Garrett Sickels has reportedly found a new home in Indianapolis after going undrafted this weekend, according to Bob Badders of the Shore Sports Network.

The news follows in the wake of linebacker Brandon Bell signing with the Cincinnati Bengals shortly after the draft concluded in Philadelphia. Sickels isn’t the only Nittany Lion defensive end to declare early for the NFL and not be selected. Deion Barnes didn’t make the cut in 2015, but was signed as an undrafted free agent by the New York Jets. He’s currently looking for his next opportunity in the league.

Sickels, who hails from Red Bank, N.J., led Penn State in tackles for loss as a redshirt junior in 2016 with 12.5 on the season. He also matched fellow defensive end Evan Schwan for the most sacks on the team with six in his final campaign as a Nittany Lion.

The 6-foot-4, 260-pound Sickels certainly has good memories of his first trip to Lucas Oil Stadium, where he and his teammates rallied to a 38-31 Big Ten Championship win over Wisconsin.
