Malik Golden, Evan Schwan Find NFL Homes As UDFAs

Malik Golden signed with the San Francisco 49ers Saturday night, while Evan Schwan is headed to the New York Giants.

Despite not being selected in the 2017 NFL Draft, they join teammates Brandon Bell and Garrett Sickels as priority undrafted free agent signees. Bell latched on with the Cincinnati Bengals shortly following the conclusion of the draft in Philadelphia, and Sickels found a new home with the Indianapolis Colts.

Golden and Schwan are great examples of what happens when you stay focused on your goals and wait for an opportunity. Both were steady contributors for the Nittany Lions over the course of their careers, but didn’t get the chance to start full-time until their senior seasons.

Golden finished fourth on the defense with 75 total tackles in 2016, while adding a forced fumble, a recovery, and an interception from his strong safety spot. Schwan tied his fellow defensive end Sickels with a team-high six sacks last fall.
