Penn State’s Office of the Bursar sent out an urgent email scam alert on its website Friday evening regarding an email sent from the email address “admin@psu.edu” to random Penn State students.

Besides being riddled with typos, the email asks students to enter private banking or credit card information within 24 hours of receiving the message or their “Penn account” will be temporarily suspended due to the “Penn state university billing department verification process.” The link leads to a bogus online payment site and is clearly an attempt to steal private information.

If you do receive the message, simply delete it. Students who do click on the link are asked to immediately change their Penn State passwords on the university’s password management site
