No. 10 Penn State Men’s Hockey Beats St. Lawrence 4-1

No. 10 Penn State men’s hockey followed up its season-opening loss to Clarkson with an impressive 4-1 win over St. Lawrence Saturday night in Canton, N.Y.

Four different skaters scored a goal for Guy Gadowsky’s Nittany Lions in Appleton Arena as they drew even to 1-1 in non-conference play.

How It Happened

Kris Myllari scored the game’s first goal just 9:33 into the opening period, with Alex Limoges and Liam Folkes picking up assists on the play. Penn State would take a 2-0 lead with 16:23 left in the second period on sophomore Denis Smirnov’s first goal of the season.

Folkes gave the Nittany Lions a 3-0 advantage with five minutes and change to go in the second frame, but St. Lawrence made sure it didn’t get shut out on its home ice. Alex Gilmour scored a power-play goal to cut the deficit to 3-1 with 7:15 on the clock. Sophomore center Nate Sucese made the most of his opportunity on an empty net, making it 4-1 Nittany Lions to secure the win.
