Six Women’s Soccer Players Earn All-Big Ten Recognition For 2017 Season

Earlier today, the Big Ten announced its annual all-conference women’s soccer teams for the 2017 season, and six Penn State players earned spots on the first, second, and third teams.

Midfielder Emily Ogle is the only Nittany Lion on the first team, and defender Raleigh Kiehl and forward Megan Schaefer both made the second team. Midfielder Charlotte Williams made the third team, and Frankie Tagliaferri made the all-freshman team for her efforts this season. Laura Suero, the sophomore defender, garnered the Sportsmanship Award.

Ogle led the Nittany Lions’ midfield for most of this season, scoring four goals and adding three assists while leading Penn State to a 10-4-3 regular season record. Schaefer led the team in scoring this season with five goals, while Williams led the Nittany Lions with six assists in 17 games played.

Despite not starting once this season, Tagliaferri made her presence known as a super sub for Erica Dambach’s squad, adding two goals off the bench.

Raleigh Kiehl anchored Penn State’s defense for most of the season, starting in all 17 of Penn State’s games and establishing herself as one of the best defenders in the Big Ten.

The Nittany Lions’ regular season is finished, but they begin postseason play this Sunday against Rutgers. The game will be played in Piscataway, NJ, and kickoff is at 1:00 p.m.
